Hybrid Services Policy for COVID-19
February 24, 2023
Congregation Beth Am’s COVID-19 policy is based upon the current risk level and the CDC’s press releases. CDC guidance can be found online at cdc.gov, or via a Google search, with a suggested search term of “cdc covid 2023 guidelines update”. The CDC’s guidance emphasizes individual choices based on individual and household risk, combined with collective precautions recommended for the local community level.
The San Antonio Community Risk Level can be found at covid19.SanAntonio.gov
Beth Am’s policy emphasizes individual responsibility. Each congregant is expected to respect the decisions of fellow congregants.
- In-person attendance is at each congregant’s own risk.
- Use of masks, hand sanitizer and physical distancing is an individual decision.
- If a congregant feels that conditions during a service expose them to higher risk than appropriate for their health or that of their household, then the choice to leave services will be respected.
- Beth Am asks all congregants to refrain from in-person attendance if, within the previous five days, they have experienced any cough or cold symptoms, or have tested positive for, or have been diagnosed with, COVID, the flu, or other respiratory infection; known allergies are excepted.
- Because all services will continue to be available via Zoom, the Beth Am community requests that congregants err on the side of caution regarding in-person attendance.
- Kiddush: Challah and wine will be available. Other foods may also be available. Participation is an individual choice.
Community Actions by Congregation Beth Am
- The Congregation reserves the right to return to Zoom-only services, and to thereafter resume in-person services, as dictated by conditions.
- All services will continue to be available by Zoom
